Yolo County, CA is part of the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area and makes up the western Sacramento Valley region. Yolo County is most notably home to the University of California, Davis. With a diverse landscape, including farmlands, wetlands, mountains, and rivers. It has gone through some major growth in the last few years.

Yolo County has four incorporated cities and many other unincorporated communities. Here is a brief overview of some of the cities and neighborhood that make Yolo unique! 

  • Davis: Davis is the largest city in Yolo County and the home of the University of California, Davis. It is known for its bike-friendly culture, progressive politics, and environmental awareness. Davis has a diverse and vibrant downtown area, with many shops, restaurants, and cultural venues. Some of the neighborhoods in Davis are Central Davis, North Davis, South Davis, East Davis, West Davis, and Mace Ranch.
  • Woodland: Woodland is the second-largest city in the county. It is located in the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by farmland and orchards. Woodland has a rich agricultural history and a historic downtown district, with many buildings dating back to the 19th and early 20th centuries. Some of the neighborhoods in Woodland are Beamer Park, College Park, Gibson Ranch, Spring Lake, and Stonehaven.
  • West Sacramento: West Sacramento lies across the Sacramento River from the state capital of Sacramento. It is a fast-growing city that has developed from a primarily industrial area to a mixed-use community with residential, commercial, and recreational developments. Some of the neighborhoods in West Sacramento are Broderick, Bryte, The Bridge District, Riverpoint, and Southport.
  • Winters: Winters is the smallest city in Yolo County and the most rural one. It is located at the foothills of the Vaca Mountains, near Lake Berryessa and Putah Creek. Winters has a charming downtown area with a historic railroad depot, a farmers market, and several wineries and breweries. Some of the neighborhoods in Winters are Buckeye Ranch Estates, Creekside Estates, Golden Bear Estates, and Valley Oak.

Besides these four cities, there are also many other communities in Yolo County that are not incorporated as cities but have their own identities and histories. Some of these are Brooks, Clarksburg, Dunnigan, El Macero, Esparto, Guinda, Knights Landing, Madison, Monument Hills, Rumsey, Tancred, Yolo, and Zamora. Each of these places has its own unique features and attractions that make them worth visiting or living in.
